The Anderson Group Ltd

The company was founded in the 1930s by Sam Anderson and operated, primarily, in haulage. The growth of the business was driven by activities within the coal and steel industries and with acquisitions of other haulage business over-time, further increasing the already strong reputation.

The Group diversified with the acquisitions of a bus and coach operator, various car dealerships and even a soft drinks company. As time has passed, the Group has returned it’s focus on its roots within the commercial vehicle industry and owns the largest Mercedes Benz commercial dealer group in the UK, Northside Truck and Van Ltd.

One of the UK’s leading light and heavy commercial vehicle body builder, Alloy Bodies Ltd, joined the Group’s portfolio in 2017 and is based in Manchester.

The Group’s property portfolio has grown as the business has evolved and is now made up of operational properties and a mixture of commercial investment properties along with land for future development.

The third generation of the Anderson family now manages the Group and drives focus on providing quality products and services, with a strong sense of family values.

The Board Members

Irvine Anderson – Chairman

As the Grandson of the original Sam Anderson, Irvine is the third generation of the Anderson family to lead the business. His father was keen for Irvine to experience life outside of the family business and he spent much of his earlier career with the Scania dealer Reliable Vehicles before working within the various car franchise operations. He has also been heavily involved in the haulage business and the fleet workshop over the years as well as being involved in the commercial property aspects of the business and as such has a broad experience, with commercial vehicle operations very much at its routes.

Irvine is based at the Head Office in Eurocentral and is still involved in the daily operations supporting the wider operational businesses and working closely with the property portfolio.

Andrew Jamieson – CEO

Andrew joined the Group in January 2020 and has worked in the commercial vehicle industry for the past 32-years. Having started life as an engineer working on engine development and fuel additive research, he first joined Mercedes-Benz in 1989 working mainly in the pre-sales engineering functions and special products.

He joined Scania in 1994 and held various sales roles before becoming a director in 2000 taking responsibility for the aftersales functions, contract portfolio, finance brokerage and truck rental. Used vehicles were added, along with marketing and pre-sales before he left the head office to join the dealer network being involved in the creation of TruckEast, the second largest Scania dealer, and then moving on to run Keltruck, the largest independent Scania dealer in Europe.

He returned to Scania in 2015 initially to work with truck rental and used vehicles and became the Sales Director for Trucks, Bus & Coach, Engines, and Rental, launching the latest generation of Scania trucks, before adding Marketing, Business Development, and used vehicles.

Returning to independent sector, he is responsible for the Group, its operations and the strategic direction.
